REMINDER: The City of Bedford would like to remind residents that City Ordinance 135.03 makes it unlawful to put debris, including GRASS CLIPPINGS or LEAVES, on city streets and alleys. Ordinance 135.08 prohibits burning trash, leaves or any other combustible material on streets or alleys.

HELP WANTED: The City of Bedford is accepting applications for a seasonal mowing/maintenance position. Applicant must have a valid Iowa driver's license and will be working outdoors in all weather conditions. Duties will include mowing and trimming and maintenance work in other departments as needed. Applications may be obtained at City Hall , 625 Court Avenue, Bedford and should be submitted to the same on or before April 3, 2020 at 5:00p.m..

Parking Regulations: per Chapter 69 of Code of Ordinances, Bedford Iowa No person shall park a vehicle upon public property for more than forty-eight (48) Hours. It is unlawful for any person to dock, park, or allow to remain on public street any trailer for more than 48 hours.

Code of Ordinances, Bedford Iowa 69.15 SNOW REMOVAL No Person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking are during snow removal operations unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley, or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall.

Code of Ordinances, Bedford, Iowa, Section 135.09-- No person shall dig, excavate or in any manner disturbing any street, parking or alley without first obtaining a permit from the City of Bedford. All streets, sidewalks, alleys and other public property disturbed must be restored to the condition of property prior to work at the expense of Permit holder and/or property owner.

Because of continuing problems with overloaded sanitary sewers, the City of Bedford is conducting a public awareness campaign to help residents be aware of the proper methods for disposing of storm water and groundwater. Per CODE OF ORDINANCES, BEDFORD, IOWA, SECTION 95.04(2) prohibits the connection of roof downspout, sump pump, etc to the public Sanitary Sewer.
