Snow removal and parking

It's that time of year again. The City of Bedford would like to remind the public of the following City Codes related to snow removal and parking:
136.03  REMOVAL  OF SNOW, ICE, OR ACCUMULATIONS.  It is the responsibility  of the abutting property  owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from  sidewalks.  If a property  owner does not remove  snow, ice  or  accumulations with forty-eight (48) hours, the City  may do so  and assess the costs against the property  owner for collection in the same manner as a  property tax.   135.12  DUMPING OF SNOW.  It is unlawful  fore any  person  to  throw , push,  or place  or cause to be thrown, pushed or  placed, any  ice and snow from private property, sidewalks, or  driveways onto  the traveled of a street or alley so as to obstruct gutters, or impede the  passage  of vehicles upon the street or  alley or to create a hazardous condition therein;  except where, in  the cleaning of large commercial drives in the business district it is  absolutely necessary  to move the  snow  onto the street or alley  temporarily, such  accumulation shall be  removed promptly by the property  owner or agent.  Arrangements for the prompt  removal  of such  accumulations shall  be made prior to moving  the snow.   39.15  SNOW REMOVAL.  No person  shall park, abandon  or leave unattended any vehicle on any  public  street, alley or City owned off street parking area during snow  removal operations unless the snow has been  removed or  plowed from said street, alley or parking area and the snow has  ceased to fall. 69.09  ALL  NIGHT PARKING PROHIBITED.  No  person, except physicians or  other persons on emergency calls, shall  park  a vehicle on any the  following named  streets for period of time  longer than thirty  (30) minutes between  the hours  of  2:00 am and  6:00 am of any day that snow  removal  is  required.   (Code of Iowa, Sec  321.236 [1] 1.  Main Street  from Court  Ave  to State Street 2.  Washington  Street from  Court Ave  to Dodge Street 3.  Court Ave from  Washington  Street  to  the alley north of Main Street 4.  Central  Ave  from Washington  to  the Alley  north  of Main  Street  5.  Dodge Street  from Washington  to  the alley north  of  Main Street  CITY  ORDINANCE  69.09   PROHIBITS  ALL NIGHT  PARKING  IN THE  DOWNTOWN  BUSINESS  DISTRICT ON ANY DAY THAT SNOW  REMOVAL  IS  REQUIRED. PLEASE MOVE YOUR  VEHICLE  TO THE  CITY  PARKING  LOT AT THE CORNER OF MAIN AND COURT OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PARK SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT.   VEHICLES  VIOLATING THIS ORDINANCE WILL BE TOWED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE!
